UPGRADING MODERN NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR SAFE FLIGHT

ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information System) is important information source for pilots, as it allows them to quickly and easily access up-to-date information regarding aeronautical and meteorological situations in the area of the airport where they intend to land or from which they need to take off.  The system assists in making informed decisions on flight operations and ensures the safety of passengers and crew. At present, at the airports of the Republic of Tajikistan, ATIS information is transmitted to aircraft crews by radio broadcasting directly in the airfield areas of international airports. For this purpose, ATIS summary generation tools and radio transmitting equipment from various manufacturers are used.

In order to ensure aviation safety and improve service quality, SUE “Tajikairnavigation” leadership is making efforts to modernize and introduce modern navigation technologies. In this regard, ATIS systems were updated in Dushanbe and Khujand airports and first installed in SUE “Tajikairnavigation” branches at Bokhtar and Kulob airports at the beginning of this year. The installed equipment from “Copperchase” can also operate in the D-ATIS mode, i.e. in the digital broadcasting mode.
