On December 28, at the Kokhi Somon Palace, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon delivered his annual Address “On the main directions of the domestic and foreign policy of Tajikistan” to Majlisi Oli.

Head of State said the poverty rate has declined from 29.5 percent in 2017 to 21.2 percent in 2023. Over the past two decades, the living standards of the country’s people have gradually improved and the poverty rate has declined from 83 percent in 1999 to 62 percent in 2023. The Leader of the Nation as well as deemed it necessary to ensure that the national economy develops at a rate of at least 8 percent in 2024 through effective implementation. In honor of the 30^th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, 2024 was declared the Year of Legal Enlightenment in the country. It was instructed to mobilize all resources and capabilities of the structures of state bodies, including law enforcement agencies, to ensure order and the rule of law in 2024.

 

President of the country Emomali Rahmon outlined the main directions of the country’s domestic and foreign policy and set specific tasks for promoting foreign policy and ensuring objectives in economic, industrial, energy, transportation, security, defence, law enforcement, health care, culture, science, education, social protection of the population, youth, sports and tourism fields.

 

With the initiative of the Leader of the Nation, protection of economic and social interests and security of the country, attraction of foreign capital for the implementation of large market infrastructure projects and provision of favourable economic and social conditions for the country’s residents are improving year by year, and new state projects and programs are being implemented.
