ICAO EFFECTIVE RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE PROVISION OF AVIATION METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES
On November 25-27, 2024 Astana hosted the Joint Meeting of the Working Groups WG-4 IUG CIS WMO and PT/EAST/17 ICAO (Working Group “Meteorological Support of Civil Aviation” of the International Council on Hydrometeorology (WG-4 IUG CIS) and the Project Team for the Implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in Eastern Europe, including Central Asia (PT/EAST METG ICAO). The meeting was attended by specialists from SUE “Tajikairnavigation” Aviation Meteorological Center, the Department of the Radio Engineering Support of Flights and Aeronautical Telecommunications and the Department of Information Technologies.
In the framework of this event, an exchange of views on the activities of the World Meteorological Organization in coordination with ICAO and on the provision of aviation meteorological services in the participating countries took place. At the same time, the member countries of the CIS Working Group (WG-4) presented reports on the status and development of meteorological services for civil aviation in the member countries of the CIS IUG Working Group (WG-4) for the off-season period 2023-2024.
As well as by the attendees touched upon important issues related to the transition to the international exchange of meteorological information in the IWXXM format, information on the coordination of the release of SIGMET between the Meteorological Tracking Body of the neighboring states of the working group №4, continuous training of aviation meteorological personnel and assessment of competence of aviation meteorological personnel according to WMO standards.
It is worth noting that in order to improve the quality of air navigation service and strengthen the knowledge and skills of specialists, effective cooperation between enterprises, manufacturers and suppliers of modern air navigation equipment is constantly being established on the initiative of Loik Begijonzoda, General Director of the SUE “Tajikairnavigation”. As a result of such support, today modern meteorological equipment at the enterprise and its branches is periodically upgraded, as well as improving the quality of air navigation service.
It should be noted that specialists from 9 countries participated in the meetings PT/EAST 22 METG EASPG ICAO and WG 4ICH CIS WMO. Participation in this meeting provided a good opportunity for the specialists to exchange experience, providing a favorable basis for their activities, as well as for the status and development of meteorological support of air navigation in the future.
